The Great Philadelphia Comic Con returns April 3rd, 2020 (through April 5th)! This will be the first year in quite a while that we, as Everything is Awesome, won’t be able to attend this convention and have our normal coverage and panels. While we won’t be there, the initial guest announcement is jaw dropping and it’s a shame we’ll be missing it (in return, Kev is putting a ring on it).
INITIAL GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE GREAT PHILADELPHIA COMIC CON 2020
ANNOUNCING SYLVESTER MCCOY
The Doctor Who and Hobbit Actor Will Be Appearing All 3 Days!
Sylvester McCoy is best known for his time playing the titular “Doctor” on BBC’s long running Doctor Who series. Due to the nature of when he began and technically ended his term as the character, he is the longest running actor to hold the role with 9 years from his first to last appearance (1987-1996. He also was Radagast the Brown in the most recent Hobbit trilogy of films, and appeared on the Wachowski siblings recent show Sense8.
THE CREATOR OF SLIMER!
Steve Johnson is an American special effects artist whose career has spanned more than thirty years. His work has appeared in over 200 films, countless television shows, theme parks, commercials, and music videos.
Some of his best-known creations include “Slimer” for Ghostbusters, the alien seductress “Sil” for Species, the multi-tentacled “Doc Ock” for Spider-Man 2, and Robin Williams’ robotics for Bicentennial Man.
THE LEGENDARY ACTDOR WILL BE APPEARING ALL 3 DAYS!
Primarily a classical stage actor, Julian Glover trained at the National Youth Theatre, performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and became a familiar face to British television viewers by appearing in many popular series during the 1960s and 1970s. His talent for accents and cold expression made him an ideal choice for playing refined villains. During the 1980s, Glover achieved some fame in Hollywood by playing roles in such popular films as Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) as well as more recent works like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He was awarded Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2013.
Most recently fans can see him playing the part of Grand Maester Pycelle on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
