THE BUSY SPIDER-MAN 2

Normally, these reviews are a couple of paragraphs but this film could be summed up with simply a scene from the movie. Towards the end of the movie, Spider-Man is balancing between holding up a building, battling a super villain and trying to save a civilian. This scene is busy—as is the whole movie.

This sequel picks up a couple of years after its predecessor. The journey of this film includes Spider-Man trying to take now not one but three villains. This film continues the mystery of Peter’s parents, the on again-off again relationship of Peter and Gwen and an attempt to expand the universe by which the film exists.

As busy as the film is, it’s not without its charm. Andrew Garfield still shines in the titular hero, even if he does often fall off his own words. Jamie Foxx even turns in a decent performance, despite his lines at times. Of course, Emma Stone is dazzling as Gwen Stacy one last time.

Overall, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is still falling short of amazing. Its overfilled with a too many villains, story arcs and a mystery that remains unsolved. The cast of Foxx, Garfield and Stone still shine despite the films consistent need to fight for attention. Much like the film’s ending, the film is a bit tragic.

FINAL SCORE: ★☆☆☆
